I have been noticing these signs all over my town and think that they are a great way to let people see and think about the name of Jesus everyday. I really don't know what church or group of people are responsible but what a great idea to just put the name of Jesus out there everyday ...for everyone to see. But just as I was enjoying seeing these signs everyday pop up in different locations I noticed a yard in my neighborhood that had one of these signs in it for a long time, only now it had others as well.
It had political signs in the yard as well. Vote for this person for county commission, vote for this person as Governor, vote for this person as congressman, and in the middle of all these political signs was this simple sign that had the name of Jesus on it. I was really sad and troubled.
There must have been 6 to 7 signs in the yard...and in the middle was Jesus. Is Jesus a political figure? That's what the disciples thought and look how wrong they were. Jesus is not a Republican or a Democrat and I HATE it when people try to make God one political party or the other. BOTH parties are screwed up and nobody has the market cornered on goodness and justice. No party can offer hope for the world...no party has what people need...only JESUS.
No wonder that people that don't know Jesus simply think that Christians are just the weird political right....we put political signs in our yards and a sign with the name of Jesus like he is endorsing those candidates.
We need to endorse Jesus as the answer... I understand that some people are concerned about who holds office and that they think one party is better than the other...I can understand and appreciate that.... but the answer to all questions is Jesus...
May we see the world as Jesus does....may we see people for what they are...children of God...and may we show each other the answer to every issue... The name of JESUS there is no other name.
