CHANGE

I just finished my Master's degree in Organizational Communication and I am finally able to write not for a grade but for fun. While I was working full time and going back to Grad school this phrase keep my mind busy...Are you ready for it? Ready for work, ready for family, ready for whatever is being required at school, ready to serve my church family, ready to use my gifts...are you ready?

Now I ask myself are you ready to change and be changed? One thing I learned in Grad school was that to change any organization you must change yourself first. I love the quote from Peter Senge that said, "People are not afraid of change, they are afraid to be changed." I think he is exactly right. I see it in my work life and in my relationship with my wife and children, and I see it in a lot of church's today as well.

In the old denomination that I was apart of for years there was a joke that went like this..How many Elders does it take to change the church?...answer...CHANGE?? it was funny at the time but then I realized that people are afraid of being changed, and that was sad to me. When I read the bible I see Jesus being the leader of change in His day and time. Today Jesus would be labeled a "Change Agent..." how sad that we don't see change the way Jesus did.

I read something today that said change is the only constant....think about that for a while..I have. I hope that you are in a place that you are looking for change. Change in your relationship with your co-workers, change in your way of handling stress and change in the way that you spend time with your family and friends. But most of all I hope that you are embracing the change that God is trying to show you in your life...change from an old Christian way of thinking and looking at things to a fresh and inspiring look at God. May you seek God and find Him and join Him as He changes that world one person at a time.

Peace.
