What has happened from the Psalms to 2009? Church seems more like a civic club gathering where people feel like they have to be there because if they are not they might get kicked out of the club. What has happened to " Shout to the LORD...or Clap your hands all you people..." those are in the bible you know..yet we sit in church with a dazed look like we are trying to understand another language.
I am really getting to the point where I just don't get it any more. I thought we were to celebrate God and the things he has done...remember.." The LORD gives and takes away , and I will still bless the name of the LORD" what happened to that? We wonder why people don't want to come to a worship gathering. Have you ever really looked at our gatherings...there are days I don't want to be there either...they are DEAD.
I am not saying that a gathering has to be happy clappy all the time but we have striped emotion out of our gatherings and I think that has taken away one of the greatest gifts God has ever given us...Worship is to be with the whole person...Love the LORD your God with your HEART...MIND...SOUL...STRENGTH. That's your whole person, everything. Not just your ears as you listen...
Where I go to church ( a church of Christ) we have harped for years that church is a place where people "participate" well from what I have seen we need to drop that line..most folks set there and look like..well the picture above.
Lets go to our worship gatherings Sunday and smile, share our emotion and rejoice...God just might show up to.
